One Heartbeat Away By Mark Cahill Book Review

The Beauty of Childhood

The older I become the more I miss the innocence and naivety of my childhood. It truly was a blessing to be shielded from the hard blows of life and the pain that often follows. Back then I wasn’t fully able to comprehend the fact that life doesn’t go on forever. Now, in my early 30s, I have a little better understanding of how the world works and the simple fact that life is very short. The reality is that 2 people die every single second. And unfortunately it often takes the death of a loved one to slow us down a bit and cause us to pause and think about what is really important in life.

What Is The Point Of My Life?

At some point in our lives most of us will wonder why we are really here, how we even got here to begin with, and where we are going when we die. We were created with an innate desire to understand these truths, but how many of us actually take the time to genuinely seek answers to these questions?

In our fast paced, non-stop, media driven culture it is often times hard to even hear ourselves think, let alone for us to take the time to understand the origins of the universe and finality of eternity. It is easier to simply suppress these questions than to look them square in the face. We act as if our lives on this Earth will continue forever and we will have plenty of time to answer them at a later, more convenient time. However, the reality is that any one of us, even at this very moment, could be one heartbeat away from eternity.

One Heartbeat Away Book Review

One Heartbeat Away Book Review

In his book One Heartbeat Away (with over 900,000 copies in print) author Mark Cahill provides solid, evidenced based, answers to each one of these questions through his in depth research on science, history, archeology, and the Bible.

Does science prove evolution to be true? If we do have faith, does the object of that faith really matter? Are there many paths to Heaven? Am I a good enough person to go to Heaven? Am I really only here on this Earth to enjoy my childhood,  go off to college, get married, have children, get promoted, retire, and die? Or is there something more?

In a thought provoking yet easy to understand format, One Heartbeat Away does a beautiful job of answering life’s tough questions. Cahill truly has a gift in his ability to communicate so clearly, and a heart for lovingly and logically sharing truth will anyone who will listen.

Apart from the Bible, this is honestly one of my very favorite books and one that I have read it at least a dozen times in the last decade.  I always take away something new from it each time I read it.

My husband and I enjoy handing this book out and currently have several copies we’d like to give away. If you are interested in a FREE copy please email me at tabatha@ajoyfueledjourney.com and leave me a comment with your full name and mailing address. It is a book truly worth your time.
