My children and I genuinely enjoy listening to Christian music for kids throughout the day. Whether weāre rushing about in the morning before school, chatting while preparing lunch, or in a long car ride, there is something about certain songs that instantly calms anxiety and brings about joy.
Introducing Christian Music to Kids
You may be wondering if itās really necessary to introduce Christian music to our children. Are they really absorbing much when it comes to the tunes they listen to? Can music have an effect on their mood throughout the day and the choices they make? And to that I would give a hearty āYes! And Yes!ā Those lyrics will sink into their hearts, and studies have clearly shown that the type of music we listen to can have a tremendous impact on our thoughts and attitudes.
Although this is true of everyone, children especially are like tiny sponges that soak in much of what is around them. It is up to us as parents, to lovingly point them in the right direction and guard them from influences that can lead them astray (including music).
The Importance of Kids Christian Music
Iād encourage you to start playing some kids Christian music to help turn your childrenās thoughts toward the Man who died to be their Savior. Many of these particular artists listed below have songs filled with Scripture, which make them a wonderful way to start a busy day or wind down before bedtime.
Although children often enjoy a variety of songs no matter who theyāre geared towards, each of the ones listed below were specifically written or sang with kids in mind. This not only makes them easier to understand, but also helps young minds retain the lyrics which can assist them in memorizing Godās Word! Ā

Some of our favorite Christian songs for kids are praise and worship songs, while others are the classic hymns. There are so many deeply rich truths pulled straight from Godās Word in the old hymns! Itās no wonder that weāre still singing many of them hundreds of years after they were written.
Now I realize that some of you may not be too keen on the idea of listening to childrenās music. When you hear the phrase āchildrenās worship songsā your mind may go back to the traditional Sunday school songs you sang growing up, you knowā¦ āThis Little Light of Mineāā¦ āIāve Got The Joy Joy Joy Joy (Down In My Heart)… āIām In The Lordās Armyā.
Although there is certainly nothing wrong with these songs (I actually like them and still sing them occasionally with my kiddos š ), theyāre typically not most parents cup of tea. So, please trust me when I say that each of these praise songs for kids are truly beautiful with a few catchy ones in the mix.

Ellie is a Nashville native who began a solo music career after touring with her husbandās band several years back. She has a powerful set of vocals and a heart to reach others with Godās Word and the hope of Christ.
After recording a few Christian albums, she decided to embark on yet another journey- writing childrenās books. āWho Sang The First Song?ā and āDonāt Forget To Rememberā are beautifully illustrated board books with a sweet and important message. After two years of writing songs and creating music Sparkle. Pop. Rampage. was born. The end result is a powerful Ā childrenās album about trusting God while learning more of His character. I love that these truths from Scripture arenāt watered down, but truly seek to strengthen a childās relationship with their Creator. Ā
Keith and Kristyn Getty
Keith and Kristyn Getty have made it their mission to bring the old hymn style back to life. Their modern hymns, including the #1 āIn Christ Aloneā have proven hugely successful, and theyāve since recorded 4 childrenās albums as well. The Getty Kids Hymnals are a blend of old and new hymns with an Irish sound and beautiful childrenās vocals.
Rain For Roots
Rain For Roots is a group of artists and songwriters with a desire to share Scripture through music. Both children and adults will enjoy their sweet and simple folk style tunes. They currently have four albums each with a distinct theme to drive home certain truths.
The Kingdom of Heaven Is Like This is a compilation of parable teaching songs, while Big Stories For Little Ones shares some of the most well-known Bible stories to solidify Godās truths into young hearts and minds.
Christy Nockels

Both the vocal and instrumental versions are breathtaking. Her gentle yet powerful voice is a beautiful accompaniment to the calm and peaceful music that is sure to please little ones and adults alike.
The Corner Room
The Corner Roomās unique ability to take nothing but the literal words of Scripture, verse by verse, and set them to music is remarkable. There new album Remember and Proclaim is a tremendous help in encouraging little ones to hide Godās Word in their hearts while at the same time making a joyful noise to the Lord (Psalm 100).
Scripture Lullabies
I am so grateful that we were introduced to Scripture Lullabies several years back! We own all of their CDs as well as the adorable and comforting Lullaby Bear. These beautiful songs sound like they belong on a movie soundtrack, but, again, are each filled with Scripture.
As a family, we have listened to these 3 albums more than any other music that we own. They have made long care rides much more enjoyable and repeatedly helped my ADHD son drift off to sleep, as well as calmed my own anxiety.
Steve Green
Mr. Green has been in the music industry for quite some time, and still continues to provide Biblically solid Christian music. Hide āEm In Your Heart (volumes 1 and 2) is his childrenās project originally produced in 2007 and still going strong.
My kids love these songs! They truly bring about smile after smile and have been such a help with Scripture memory. The short and catchy tunes help the words stick in your head without overwhelming children.
I hope that this list of Christian music for kids is a help and encouragement to your family! Teaching our children the character of God, while filling their (and our) hearts and minds with the truths of His Word is so vital, especially in the day and age weāre living in. Letās be faithful!
