How Times Have Changed
Do you ever miss the innocence of your childhood?
I couldnāt possibly be any more in love with my sweet family, and am incredibly blessed and humbled to be their wife and momma. Butā¦ a whole lot has changed in the world in the last 20-25 years and sometimes I canāt help but miss the carefree days of my youth.
I miss the days when my greatest concern was whether or not we were going to have some Friday night pizza as a family. The days of ball games, riding bikes around town, and playing with friends after school on a warm spring evening. I miss lying under the stars in my front yard and gazing up in sheer awe at their magnitude. I miss the security of my parents love, protection, and wisdom.
There were no burdens to carry, no fears to keep me awake at night, no stresses to exhaust and overwhelm me.
Life was just simple. Fun. Safe.
And I liked it that way. Although I like to reminisce of years gone by, I now realize that my own two children are experiencing this blissful stage of life right nowā¦which brings me great joy. It is such a blessing to see my own children full of smiles and laughter as they carelessly enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood, and are sheltered from the harsh realities of the world we live in. I wish they could keep that sweet innocence forever.
Are The Best Years Already Behind Us?
Time, unfortunately, has a way of blurring the lines, stealing our joy, and hardening our hearts if we arenāt careful. Even though we may thoroughly enjoy the gift of life God has graciously given us, at times it is tempting to look at the world around us and think that the best years of our lives may have already passed us by. A pretty sobering and discouraging thought.
However, I am reminded that for the Christian this is simply not true. Godās Word tells us that there will be a day when He will make all things new. Our lives here on earth are but a vapor that appear for a little while and then vanish away (James 4:14). The moment we step into eternity, we will understand that all of the pleasures we experienced here on earth were only tiny glimpses in preparation for something much greater.
Perfection Restored
Can you even begin to imagine the complete perfection of beauty, peace, and joy that we will experience in the presence of our Savior? An all-encompassing love so strong that it brings us to our knees in gratitude? Can you picture the gentleness of a wolf lying beside a lamb? Streets of pure gold and gates made of pearls? Nations of all tribes and tongues worshiping together? Can you pause for a moment and imagine Creation in all of its glory as it was originally designed to be?
Can you imagine finally being able to run into the arms of the One who took your place and gave you life?
Pain and tears wiped away.
A broken world mended and restored.
Friend, we are living in some dark days, but please remember that the joys of Heaven far outweigh the sorrows of today. In the chaos of life Iād like to encourage you to spend time studying the truths of Scripture each day. I promise that you will find comfort in those words.
Truly the best is still yet to come.

This is the hope that I have been clinging too. The hope that the world needs to hear. This is temporary, but God is going to make everything perfect. At times, I try to imagine how glorious it will be but his glory is too much I canāt even imagine how great it would be. ?
