Check out these uplifting clean movies for a fun evening in!
I love a good movie! What I don’t like as much are expensive theater tickets. (I’m a thrifty gal). Or inappropriate scenes that are just not necessary. A nice evening out with my husband is always a special treat. But, sometimes all I need is a quiet relaxing evening together at home.
Clean Movies at Home
There is just something about a wholesome and clean movie (and a bowl of frozen custard 😉 ) that can’t help but lift you up. About once a month we’ll plan a Friday evening movie night after the kiddos go down for bed. This time together is always a calm reset from a busy week.
So What Are Some Good Clean Movies?
Believe it or not there are actually quite a few solid clean movies out there, that unfortunately don’t always get the publicity they deserve. Below is a list of 21 of our favorite good clean movies on Amazon Prime for date nights at home! Some of them are great for a good laugh while others are a simple and sweet love story. Although he would never admit to it, my tough on the outside husband has quite a big heart. He’s typically up for a good love story! I wouldn’t be surprised if yours is too.

26 Clean Movies For Date Nights
With the exception of a few, I’ve seen each of these clean movies listed below multiple times and own many of them. A good story does something to the heart and these are certainly worth watching.
1. Leap Year After 4 years of dating and no proposal in sight, Anna decides to take matters into her own hands. While her boyfriend prepares to leave for Dublin on a work trip, she discovers an old Irish tradition where the woman asks the man to marry her.
Anna’s idea to surprise him takes on a quite the detour when she ends up on the wrong side of the country and has to hire a driver to get her to her destination. She discovers a bit about love along the way.
2. Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken This one has been a favorite of mine for the last 20 years! Sonora is a young orphan who feels like nothing more than a burden to her aunt and uncle. She decides to run away in hopes of chasing her dreams to become a diving girl in the 1930s. Her sheer determination eventually propels her in the right direction, but life doesn’t always play out as we imagine.
3. Letters To Juliette One of my very favorite clean romance movies! An aspiring writer and her fiancé take a trip to Italy. Once there, Sophie discovers a mysterious wall where heartbroken women write letters to “Juliet” that actually receive a reply! Sophie joins the kind women in writing when she discovers a letter from many decades ago.
This simple love letter allows her to cross paths with an elderly woman and her grandson who take her on quite the adventure.
4. Remember The Titans I’ve seen this movie more times than any other, and it’s still just as good every time. T.C. Williams High School (Virginia 1971) has just integrated African American students into their white campus. Football Coach Boon is set to replace beloved coach Yoast and the town is in an uproar.
The coaches and students eventually learn to trust one another and work through their differences despite the disapproval of many. It’s hard to believe this film came out more than 20 years ago. Just goes to show that clean movies can absolutely be top notch!
5. You’ve Got Mail Rival booksellers Kathleen and Joe begin an email correspondence without realizing each other’s true identity. When sparks begin to fly and the time comes for them to meet in person, only one of them discovers the truth. They continue to be at odds with one another until both identities are finally revealed.
6. McFarland USA My husband is a Kevin Costner fan and we stumbled upon this one while looking for a new movie of his one day. Based on a true story, Costner plays coach Jim White in a mostly Hispanic high school.
Although the school doesn’t have much money or known sports talent of any kind, Coach White eventually discovers that his kids have a remarkable work ethic and desire to push themselves. They begin a cross country team and their hard work eventually pays off more than any of them ever expected.
7. The Art Of Racing In The Rain I’ll always be a dog lover and am a sucker for any love story with one involved. This one is a new favorite of mine, a simple and sweet love story that had me in tears on more than one occasion.
Enzo (voiced by Kevin Costner) is your typical amazingly compassionate and loyal dog whose sole purpose in life is to take care of his owners (racecar driver Denny, his wife, and his little girl) through all of life’s highs and lows. If you’re looking for a new clean drama movie, this one won’t dissapoint.
8. I Still Believe Based upon the true story of musician Jeremy Camp’s life. A beautifully captured story of love and loss and a faith that was incredibly strengthened through it all.
9. Elf I’m pretty sure Elf will forever be stuck at the top of the clean comedy movie list! I love to laugh and even after years of watching this one, it still doesn’t disappoint.
Buddy the elf is on a mission to meet and win the approval of his father in New York City around Christmastime. Life in the big city is a bit of an adjustment, to say the least, for an elf who grew up at the North Pole. Buddy’s kindness and positive outlook eventually win over not only his father, but all who meet him.
10. Indivisible A powerful true story of marriage, faith, and family. Army chaplain Darren Turner’s marriage is picture perfect until a challenging deployment that changes everything. A reminder that life was never promised to be easy, but that with God at the center He will help us walk through life’s trials and tragedies.
11. Mom’s Night Out There comes a time when a mom just needs some adult conversation and a nice evening out. Allyson and her friends intend on having a nice relaxing night out while their husbands watch the kids. What could possibly go wrong? Basically everything.
12. Zookeeper Kevin James is a funny guy. In this sweet romantic comedy he plays Griffin, a dearly loved zoo keeper who fares much better with the animals than with the ladies. In an attempt to win back the girl of his dreams he decides to leave the zoo to get a more professional job.
The animals simply won’t have it and do everything in their power to keep him there while teaching him a few of their own tips on love.
13. While You Were Sleeping Lucy, a kind-hearted subway worker, is quite taken by a handsome stranger whom she saves one day from a near fatal accident. The man’s injuries, unfortunately, put him in a coma. While visiting him in the hospital his family thinks that Lucy is his fiance and fully welcomes her with open arms. Lucy is drawn in by their kindness and doesn’t correct their mistake… until she begins to genuinely fall in love with someone else.
14. Run The Race This one was actually directed by Tim Tebow, and since we are fans of his we decided to give this one a try one night. We weren’t disappointed!
Two brothers are grieving the loss of their mother and desperate to leave their past behind them. Their athletic talent seems to be their only hope of a fresh start and making something of themselves. The brotherly bond between these two was a genuine joy to watch.
15. Cinderella A beautiful retelling of the classic fairytale. The scenery in simply breathtaking and the acting is superb. This is by far my favorite version of this story!
16. A Dog’s Purpose Dogs have this amazing way of getting ahold of our hearts and showing us what really matters in life. Baily is no exception to this. His entire purpose in life is to faithfully love and protect the humans he crosses paths with.
17. A Dog’s Journey Movie sequels are rarely as good as the original, but this one is definitely an exception. Picking right up where A Dog’s Purpose leaves off, Baily is now in charge of protecting Ethan’s (his original owner) granddaughter no matter the cost.
18. Courageous This is one of my husband’s all-time favorites and a powerful film on the importance of fathers being the leader in their homes as God has called them to be.
19. Belle Inspired by the true story of a biracial young lady born to a Navy Admiral in 1800’s England. Belle’s heritage grants her the right of certain privileges, but the color of her skin proves to be an obstacle for many. She fears her lineage will prevent her from ever finding a proper suitor until one young man, bent on change himself, is determined to prove her wrong.
20. Pride & Prejudice A beautiful remake of the classic Jane Austen love story. Elizabeth Bennet is certain that she will forever despise Mr. Darcy. However, the more she gets to know his true character the more she can’t help but be drawn in by his integrity and pure heart.
21. The Case For Christ An atheist journalist seeks to disprove his wife’s newfound faith. The evidence he discovers isn’t at all what he expects.
22. Bella A beautiful movie that won multiple awards in the indepent film industry. This one has a unique plot about an unlikely friendship between a former soccer star and a struggling young waitress. It is truly a sweet and clean movie that will tug at your heart strings and remind you what is most important in life.
23. Radio If you’ve never seen Radio you need to put this one on your “must see” list! Football coach Harold Jones befriends a young man with special needs (played by Cuba Gooding Jr.) in this heartwarming film based on a true story.
24. Lifemark The Kendrick brothers are talented directors to say the least. They’ve stayed true to their mission of creating clean movies for the family that honor Christ as well as encourage, edify, and equip those watching.
Their newest movie, Lifemark, is an uplifting film based on the true story of an adopted son who decides to reach out to his birth mother. I was surprised at the depth of relationships depicted in this powerful film- another tear jerker for sure, but happy tears!
25. Beyond The Mask I stumbled upon this one last year and was pleasantly surprised by the storyline and visual effects of this faith based independent film. A former East India Trading Company assassin seeks to leave his past behind him and save a nation from destruction… all the while falling in love in the process. If you’re in the mood for an action movie I’d give this one a try!
26. Eight Below A sweet story of friendship between eight sled dogs and their handler. Jerry will stop at nothing to rescue his beloved friends from the harsh Antarctica winter.
27. The Finest Hours stars Chris Pine as a U.S. Coast Guard member who bravely battles a horrific storm in an effort to rescue 30 sailers trapped in a sinking ship. This heroic true story will keep you on the edge of your seat in awe.
I hope this list of clean movies for date nights is helpful to you! Enjoy spending time with your spouse and please keep being intentional in making that time a priority. And if you’re looking for some good wholesome family movies check out this list!
